Scooch Over Films is dedicated to transforming ideas into visual narratives that captivate and resonate. We're not just a production company, we're passionate storytellers.
A story that shouldn't be real. It shouldn't be real, but it was. And we want to tell it, because we know that we learn from mistakes.
Francisco Maldonado Da Silva was a young Jewish doctor who suffered the punishments of the Spanish Inquisition in colonial America during the 16th and 17th centuries. His story is real and the Argentine writer Marcos Aguinis tells it with exquisite beauty in his novel La Gesta del Marrano (Against the Inquisition).
Based on this work, accompanied and encouraged by the writer, we are creating a miniseries in which the horror of persecution and torture cannot silence a free heart. Set in our colonial America, La Gesta del Marrano portrays a heroic journey and demonstrates, once again, that from the darkest moments arise the most luminous lessons.
Sergio began his career in film and television as a commercial director in the United States. After returning to his homeland, he immersed himself in creating television series, where he not only wrote and directed, but also worked closely with renowned actors such as Norman Briski, Juan Gil Navarro and Alejandro Awada, among others.
In 2004, Sergio made a big leap with his first feature film, Dead Line. This project marked a before and after in his career, being a production with international reach that opened new doors.
He continued directing Bone Breaker and later Winter Visitor, a revolutionary project that not only premiered in commercial theaters, but also marked the return to the genre in national cinema. Thanks to this pioneering work, after two decades other Argentine filmmakers of the genre were able to bring their films to the big screen. He subsequently wrote and directed Number 8 and Leviathan, consolidating his place in the industry.
His talent was not limited to the horror genre. He wrote the script for Kosher Bullets, an action comedy that came to life in You Only Live Once, a film starring Gérard Depardieu, Peter Lanzani and Santiago Segura. More recently, he was the screenwriter for The Last Heretic.
Currently, Sergio is immersed in a new challenge: writing the script for the miniseries La Gesta del Marrano, based on the work of acclaimed Argentine writer Marcos Aguinis.
Art, creativity and business have always been her essence. She began studying Fine Arts in Argentina and later immersed herself in the world of design and creative direction in Montreal, Canada. There, she perfected her skills and developed a strategic vision in the field of marketing and creativity.
In Montreal, she founded and directed PeopleLikeUs, a creative marketing agency that quickly gained recognition. Leading this agency, she spearheaded important projects and collaborated with renowned brands, creating campaigns that stood out for their impact and originality.
This experience, leading large multidisciplinary teams on diverse projects, was the platform for creating Scooch Over Films; a production company born from the passion for storytelling and the search for new horizons.
